E. Martinez

G. Martinez came to the United States illegally around December 2003. Fast forward 9 years later – In 2012, Martinez was pulled over and charged with a DUI. A couple a months later, ICE detained Martinez while on his way to work. He was taken to ICE detention center in Butler County. Martinez contacted Matt Benson and Matt was able to get Martinez out on bond to allow to be set in front of the Immigration Judge and pursue Cancellation of his deportation proceedings.

Martinez and I met in 2012, and our relationship moved slowly. We had two children and ultimately, he and I married in 2015. Matt then steered our case toward our marriage, which if approved would allow us to ask the Judge to cancel Martinez’s deportation proceedings. Matt kept us very informed and answered graciously and honestly any question we had. He also reassured us throughout the process, but remained very honest.

Ultimately, Matt was able to get Martinez’s deportation proceedings terminated. Matt then worked vigorously to get Martinez’s I-601A unlawful presence waiver filed, which included requesting many documents that helped support our case to help substantiate the need for approval based on hardship to our family. Months later, we received our approval notice which allowed Martinez to return to Mexico to process his immigrant visa.

We received the notice for Martinez’s appointment in Mexico. Although, our family was very nervous for this next step-Matt prepared us thoroughly and reassured us. My husband left for Mexico 6/2/19 and returned with his permanent residency 6/15/19.

We would choose Matt over and over again, and would recommend him to anyone that is facing any immigration concerns. His diligence, honestly, genuine care for the outcome and down to earth attitude is all we could ask for. We look forward to working with Matt for Martinez’s citizenship!
